Wenger lost the support of Arsenal's board

Arsene Wenger has lost the support of Arsenal's board following successive humiliating defeats to Manchester City. Arsenal chiefs Ivan Gazidis, Sir Chips Keswick and Lord Harris of Peckham no longer believe the Frenchman is the right man to manage Arsenal. Wenger has around 18 months left on his current deal, but Arsenal are 10 points outside the top four and facing a second successive season without Champions League football. Winning the Europa League is now Arsenal's best hope of returning to Europe's premier club competition next term.
