Outgoing Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says he expects Shkodran Mustafi to remain at the club this summer.
The Frenchman does not expect the under-fire defender to join him in heading for the exit despite a string of poor performances.
Wenger has tipped the German - signed for £35m from Valencia in the summer of 2016 - to be a success at the Emirates Stadium.
"He wasn't close (to leaving)," he said when asked about reports of a January sale.
"He is a young defender who has had ups and downs. I believe overall he has potential. He is one of the guys who is committed and goes for the challenges."
