They want to destroy my brother: Football world is shocked with Cristiano’s red card incident

Cristiano Ronaldo couldn’t see a worst start in Champions League for his new club even in his worst dreams. Portugal international, who moved to Juventus from Real Madrid this summer, was supposed to lead his team against Valencia. However, the incident on 30th minute of the match broke everything down, when Ronaldo put his hand on Jeison Murillo’s head showing his disappointment over Colombian defender’s dive. Felix Brych, referee of the match, was told by his assistant that Ronaldo showed a non-acceptable behavior and gave him a red card. Football world is still shocked for this decision. Cristiano’s sister, Katia, has written in her instagram account: “A football disgrace. Justice will be done. They want to destroy my brother” (via ESPN). Ronaldo’s teammates were also unhappy with the incident. Former Liverpool star Emre Can said: “How is that a red card? I heard he was just pulling hair (of Murillo). We’re not women, we are football players”. Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand also thinks the decision was unfair. Surely got to appeal this... @Cristiano??” Ferdinand has posted in his twitter. “Referee Felix Brych had his back to the incident. It was spotted by the additional assistant, standing by the goal, who may have thought Ronaldo threw an elbow but that was not the case. Ronaldo was then clearly annoyed by Murillo’s play-acting and placed a hand on the defenders head. The contact looked very slight and I cannot see how the additional assistant, standing some 20 yards away, could deem it violent conduct.” Former Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg told Daily Mail. Ronaldo will reportedly be banned for 1 match, which means he will be able to play against Manchester United in Old Trafford.
