Leicester City keep on climbing up the Premier League Table after beating Sunderland thanks to goals by Islam Slimani and Jamie Vardy. Although everyone’s eye was on Man Utd vs Everton match, Leicester silently but confidently grabbed 6th consecutive victory and 5th in the Premier league. Craig Shakespeare’s team is now in the 10th place in EPL table with 36 points, being only one point behind Watford.
Leicester vs Sunderland game promised to be tough for the hosts as the EPL underdogs are making last attempts to get back to life and fight for the survival. The game met the expectations, as the first half ended with a goalless draw, with both teams being cautious in the back and not so active upfront.
However, the second half put everything in its place, as Islam Slimani opened the scoreline with a well-placed header. A perfect lofted pass from Marc Albrighton found Slimani, who jumped highest and steered a close-range header straight into the bottom right corner. His effort was both strong and precise, and Jordan Pickford had no chance of stopping that.
Minutes later Albrighton shone again with an incredible devotion and desire. He not only stole the ball and made a good run on the wing, but also displayed great vision and sent a pass to Jamie Vardy, who showed brilliant composure inside the box to bury the ball into the top left corner.
These two goals were more than enough for Leicester City to take three points from this game and continue their good run of victories. Watford, on their side, defeated West Brom with the same score, despite feeling Leicester’s breath on their backs.
