Unai Emery reveals who convinced him to start Bern Leno against Vorskla Poltava

Unai Emery has confirmed that Bernd Leno will start against Vorskla Poltava in Arsenal’s Europa League opener. Despite signing Leno Unai Emery kept faith with Petr Cech and Leno had to watch from sidelines since joining Arsenal. But the German goalkeeper has now received an opportunity to make his debut. Arsenal head coach revealed that he was convinced to make such a decision. ‘Bernd Leno is going to play in the starting XI,’ Emery said ahead of the clash with Vorskla. ‘In our planning for the goalkeeper, we spoke with Javi Garcia, the goalkeeper coach, and we need to give Leno the chances to get some minutes.’ ‘The quality for the goalkeeper is confidence and he has that,’ said Emery. ‘He is going to start and he can go a long way here in Arsenal. He is young and he is here because he showed us his quality. ‘We signed Leno for now and to improve with us and to compete with other goalkeepers. I am very happy with his work every day and I am looking forward to him playing well.”
