UCL. Tottenham V Barcelona: Preview and Possible Starting XI

UEFA Champions League 2018/19: Matchday 1
  • Tottenham V Barcelona
  • Venue: Wembley Stadium
  • Date: Wednesday, 03 October
  • Kick-off time: 8pm PM
Tottenham face a huge Champions League test in just their second game of Group B as Spanish giants Barcelona head to Wembley on Wednesday night. Mauricio Pochettino’s side was approaching something of a crisis following three straight defeats but won 2-0 at Huddersfield with two Harry Kane goals this weekend to end the slump. Still, Spurs' 2-1 defeat at Inter Milan on matchday one means that this Champions League tie against Barca is already if not a must-win game, then certainly a must-not-lose. There is really never a good time to face a Barca side that includes Lionel Messi, but Ernesto Valverde's La Liga champions are stuck in a rut without a win in their last three games with a defence out of sorts for the trip to London. Dele Alli remains out for Spurs, who are in somewhat of an injury crisis after Jan Vertonghen and Mousa Dembele were both taken off at half-time against Huddersfield on Saturday and are officially out. Christian Eriksen did not play at the weekend and will miss out again along with Serge Aurier, although there is good news for Spurs fans as Hugo Lloris will start in goal. Barcelona will be without Sergi Roberto and Samuel Umtiti, with the latter, suspended after seeing red against PSV. Possible Line Ups: Betting & Match Odds Tottenham are priced at odds of winning 3.80 according to VBet, while a draw is available at 3.81. A win for Barcelona are priced at 1.93.
