1. He could join Juventus instead of Manchester United in 2003

The Portuguese youngster who was thinking about leaving Portugal in 2003 could have moved to Italy instead of England. Sporting Lisbon directors had already reached an agreement with Juventus and as a compensation, Juventus had not only to pay a significant amount of money but also to transfer Marcelo Salas to the opposite direction. Ronaldo had passed the medical tests and even packed his luggage when the Turin-based side called to Sporting and told that Salas decided to reject the move to Portugal. The contract was canceled and Ronaldo transferred to Manchester United weeks later.

2. Ronaldo was named after former US president Ronald Reagan

Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro. This is Ronaldo’s full name. His second name was given after the US president Ronald Reagan. It may seem a strange choice, and the initiator of this idea was Cristiano’s father who was a big fan of Reagan’s talent. It’s a well-known fact, that Reagan was a Hollywood star before he runs for the presidency.
