The Week for the Grands.

  • Barcelona – Getafe

Barcelona now has the most wins (23), least draws (3) and losses (2). They have the best goal difference (+56) and 36 games without a loss in all competitions. Simply, they are now the absolute leaders of the league having +8 from Atletico Madrid and +12 from Real Madrid. Getafe, in turn, are on the 16th position in the table and are currently on the edge of the relegation zone with 1-point difference. Any points gathered from anywhere are helping the team go up, and ‘biting’ unmotivated Barcelona may be in Fran Escriba’s plans.

The first game between these opponents finished with Barcelona away win 0-2.

Missing Players: Rafinha (Barcelona), Lago, Vigaray and Damian Suarez (all Getafe) are injured, while Mascherano (Barcelona), Cela, Vazquez and Sarabia (all Getafe) are suspended.

  • Atletico Madrid – Deportivo

The team from Madrid are still hoping for the championship in the league. They are 8 points behind Barcelona, but are in a very good run with only 1 loss in previous 11 La Liga matches. Deportivo, in turn, did not win in previous 5 matches and are going down the league table. The difference from the relegation zone is now 7 points.

The first game between these opponents finished with a 1-1 draw.

Missing Players: Tiago (Atletico), Fabricio and Juan Dominquez (all Deportivo) will miss the match due to injuries.

  • Las Palmas – Real Madrid

Surely, the power levels of 1st and 15th teams can never be equal. Real Madrid won Celta 7-1 last week and beat Roma second time 2-0 qualifying to the round of 8 in UEFA Champions League. Their aggression and self-confidence are now on the highest level possible, however, Las Palmas is also in a very good run. They have won 3 last matches, the latest against Villarreal. The team went up, screwed away from relegation zone and are now resting on the 15th position. Taking into account Real Madrids instable away game patterns, there is a hope for a good battle in this game.

The first game between these opponents finished with Real Madrid home win 3-1.

Missing Players: Castellano, Gomez, Hernan, Wakaso from Las Palmas and Real Madrid’s Benzema will miss the match due to injuries.

The Match of the Week.

Sevilla – Villarreal

The clash between these teams promises a good competitive game with many beautiful attacks. These are 4th and 5th teams of the league, both having only one loss in last 5 games. Now the point difference between the teams is 8 and in case of Sevilla win the intrigue for the 4th UEFA Champions league qualifying position will revive. By the way, both of the teams are now playing in UEFA Europa League round of 16. Sevilla had a clash with Basel (0-0), while Villarreal won against Bayer Leverkusen (2-0). The second legs will take place next week.

The first game between these opponents within La Liga finished with Villarreal home win 2-1.

Missing Players: Pareja, Andreolli, Vitolo from Sevilla and Samuel, dos Santos, Costa and Musacchio from Villarreal are injured, while Soldado (Villarreal) is suspended.
