Moussa Sissoko says he never intended to join Everton in the summer, because Tottenham are a “bigger club”.
The midfielder was the target of a reported bid from the Toffees on Deadline Day, but eventually sealed a move from Newcastle to Spurs.
“Why would I have joined Everton? Spurs are a bigger club,” Sissoko told the Daily Mirror. “They wanted me at Everton. I didn’t hear anything else. Tottenham came in next.
“In my head it was clear I absolutely wanted to sign for them. Without wishing to offend Everton, Tottenham, in my opinion, is a bigger club than Everton. So for me it was better to go here. And I didn’t think more about it. I signed.”
