Rooney breaks Sir Bobby Charlton's record

Wayne Rooney has overtaken Sir Bobby Charlton at the top of the Manchester United goalscoring charts after scoring a last-minute free kick to earn his side a 1-1 draw with Stoke City.

The 31-year-old striker has been waiting to move past Sir Bobby Charlton’s record of 249 goals for some weeks. Nonetheless, he finally achieved it with a stunning set piece in the fourth minute of added-on time to deny Stoke.

The Red Devils captain managed to rescue a point for his side with a sensational free-kick from the left-wing as Stoke seemed set to secure three points against United.
