Revealed: Why Arsenal haven’t announced Sokratis deal yet

Many Arsenal supporters are worried why the club haven’t announced Sokratis Papastathopoulos’ deal yet. The Greek defender is expected to follow Arsenal first summer signing Stephan Lichtsteiner. Sokratis’ £16 million worth deal has been agreed between his current club Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal. It’s already known that the player travelled to England and undergone his medical, however the deal has not completed yet. According to Kicker, Dortmund do not want the transfer to go through until the next financial year, so the deal won’t be announced until July 1. With Greece not in action at the World Cup, that will mean Sokratis will be able to link up with his new teammates at the start of pre-season and will be able to take part in the trip to Singapore form the International Champions Cup.
