Reason why Arsenal 'gave up trying to sign Kylian Mbappe' from Monaco two years ago

The 19-year-old Kylian Mbappe is now one of the most expensive players on the planet, after the forward's heroics in France's World Cup last-16 win over Argentina. Ahead of his £166 million move to Paris Saint Germain, Mbappe was at Monaco, where he was attracting a lot of attention from Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea, according to Mirror Football. But when Liverpool and Chelsea came calling when he was just 15, Mbappe turned them both down. Arsenal showed major interest in Mbappe when he was 17 however, and were in talks with the player's agent, as well as his family. According to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague, Mbappe's family and agent asked for £7million to get the deal done. Arsenal, reportedly unprepared to take a risk, considered this to be too much to spend on a 17-year-old and the deal broke down.
