Pochettino: It’s difficult to convince good players to come

Lloris admits his future at White Hart Lane to head coach Pochettino

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino admitted that he wanted to sign former Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata before the player moved to Chelsea back in July.

‘It’s so difficult to convince good players to come and then be on the bench. Then the problems start,’ he was quoted by the Daily Mail.

‘Morata said to me, “Why do you want me if you have Harry Kane?”. You know, if you go to try to sign a striker, they will say, “Eh gaffer, you want me for what? To be on the bench? Because it’s Harry Kane, I can’t compete with Harry Kane” or Hugo Lloris or different players,” the manager added.

Alvaro Morata joined Chelsea earlier this summer for 65 million euros.
