Pique: I never talked about separatism

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique admitted he is happy to play for Spain national team and had never done steps towards national separatism.

“Why are you so concerned about that,” Pique told his press conference (after) Colombia friendly (2-2) after being asked about the whistling by the fans during the time he wore the captain band.

“Why do you pay so much attention to that? Why not talk about football? It is so crucial to you, that you keep asking me that for one and half years.

“I think people stopped booing me recently, but you asked: Should all boo Pique? You think people consider me a separatist? I have never talked about separatism.

“I am happy to feature for Spain national team and I try to prove that I can be a distinguished captain,” Barcelona and Spain centre-back concluded.

Gerard Pique has been a political activist regarding Catalunia (capital of which region Barcelona is) independence.
