OFFICIAL: Lyon denies Nabil Fekir’s any potential move to Liverpool

Lyon have confirmed that Nabil Fekir will remain at the club next season after negotiations regarding a potential move to Liverpool have broken down. According to rumours, Liverpool were very close to completing a move of around £55million, but it appears the player’s move to Merseyside is off. In a statement, Lyon said: “The three-way negotiations with Liverpool and Nabil were not successful and Olympique Lyonnais decided to end the negotiations at 20:00 (UTC). “Although Liverpool have made Nabil’s transfer a priority, and subject to other bids from ambitious clubs consistent with the interests of Nabil and OL, Olympique Lyonnais is pleased to be able to count on the presence of its captain for the 2018/19 season, during which the club will play in the Champions League.” Fekir's 18 goals and eight assists propelled Bruno Genesio’s side to third place this term, two points behind runners-up Monaco and attracted many top clubs as well as Liverpool's attention. However, it’s already clear that Fekir will stay at Lyon.
