Modric: Russia deserves to be in quarterfinals if you ask me

Croatia captain Luka Modric shared his opinion about their World Cup quarterfinal opponents Russian national team.

"They are the host team, very strong, they work hard and fight as team," he told FIFA official website. "They showed that against Spain, they were underdogs with very few chances.  In the end they survived the penalties, with the help of the home fans. They run and fight a lot, so they were rewarded for that. "Here they are in the quarter finals, where nobody expected them to be. They deserved that if you ask me. We expect a difficult match against them," he continued. "We'll have to be much better than we were against Denmark, which I'm confident we will be. I believe that this is not the end for us and this team is capable of much more. I believe that we will show that against Russia, although it will be a tough game," the midfielder concluded on the matter.
