Former Chelsea FC, Real Madrid and AC Milan man has joined Indonesia giants Persib Bandung.
The club announced the new signing on Tuesday.
The 34-year-old midfielder is a probably one of the best signings for Indonesian soccer since Roger Milla and Mario Kempes played in the country in the end of last century.
The Ghanian left Greek club Panathinaikos at the end of last season and joined the Indonesian side as a free agent.
Essien spent nine years at Chelsea where he won two Premier League titles, Four FA Cups and one Champions League trophy.
Essien will have to wait until the beginning of the new league season in Indonesia, as the start date is yet unknown.
