How Mesut Ozil influenced Leroy Sane’s omission from Germany’s World Cup squad

Leroy Sane’s withdrawal from Germany’s squad for the World Cup in Russia was a surprise for everyone. Manchester City player had a stunning season in the Premier League, winning the PFA young player of the year award, scoring 14 goals and laying on 15 assists. Many famous players, especially the likes of Kevin de Bruyne and Kyle Walker were shocked to hear the news. Mats Hummels was also among the players to be impressed  with the news. According to Hummels, the Germany squad this year rely on more senior players, that’s why Sane wasn’t included in the squad. He said: "Leroy Sane has not the same standing as Thomas Muller or Mesut Ozil. Sometimes it takes time to have the same standing in the national team as in your club. "It is noticeable that the guys coming up from youth ranks - at Bayern too - are different guys to 10, 12 years ago. "That is the new generation. They are characterised by a different behaviour, like on social media."
