Manchester City to acquire Spanish club

Manchester City parent company City Football Group is closing the deal on Catalan club Girona acquisition.

According to the terms of the contract, 50% of the shares of the club and Media Base company, which belongs to the Citizens’ manager Pep Guardiola’s brother Pere Guardiola. The rest of the shares will still belong to the fan association of the club.


Girona will become the sixth club the corporation owns, after New York City, Melbourne City, Yokohama F. Marinos, Club Atletico Torque and Manchester City.

The Spanish side are currently featuring in Spanish strongest league (La Liga) after being promoted from Segunda Division (second place in season 2016-17).
