Manchester City defender Danilo left the pitch in tears during Brazil’s 1-0 win over Argentina in Saudi Arabia and handed Pep Guardiola and injury blow. The 27-year-old full-back was forced off in the 53rd minute after rolling his ankle and was wheeled away on a medical truck. Danilo broke down in tears before being replaced by Liverpool’s Fabinho. Danilo has only featured in one game under Pep Guardiola – a 3-0 win in the EFL Cup over Oxford – and his chances of more football will now be hindered after this latest injury blow. Danilo suffered the same problem that forced him out of Brazil’s World Cup campaign in Russia and saw him fail to be fit for City’s pre-season tour.
