Riyad Mahrez has been given permission by Algeria to leave the national team’s camp in order to complete a transfer from Leicester.
The Algerian Football Federation announced that Mahrez was given permission to leave the Algeria squad and return to Europe to “formalize his transfer to his new club”.
Riyad Mahrez checked into a London hotel last night after leaving the national team’s training camp. With Chelsea and Arsenal looking to strengthen their squads, Mahrez could be a valuable asset for both clubs.
The Algerian international is expected to pass a medical in London and sign for his new club which can be announced in coming hours as the transfer deadline is close enough.
Mahrez, who handed in a transfer request earlier this summer, has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Monaco in recent weeks, though Manchester United have reportedly registered a late interest in the player as Jose Mourinho bids to make his fourth and final signing of the transfer window. Also, the 26-year-old has already been subject to a number of bids this summer from Roma, of which Leicester rejected.
