Lukaku out, Rooney in: Players share emotions on Everton

Romelu Lukaku has attracted Real Madrid’s interest.

Striker Romelu Lukaku posted a farewell message for Everton fans on social media, after agreeing terms for Manchester United move on Sunday, July 9.

The 24-year-old posted a video of flashbacks from his experience in Everton and wrote a caption to it addressed to the fans of the Liverpool side.

“I want to say a big thank you to all the people involved at @everton,” he wrote on Instagram.

“I want to thank the fans for your support throughout the four years we’ve spent together. You guys helped me through all my games and I can proudly say it was an honour to play in front of you.

“To the staff at the stadium and training ground thank you for making me feel home from the first day I walked in. To my team-mates it was great to play with you guys.

“To technical staff thank you for helping me become a better player. Working with you guys has been a pleasure and I’ll take your advice throughout the rest of my career. Thank you Everton Football Club,” the caption said.

Let’s recall that Everton and Manchester United have already agreed terms on the Belgium international’s move to the Red Devils squad. Reportedly, MU will have to pay 75 million pounds alongside with Wayne Rooney opposite direction move to his youth club. The player, however, refused to admit that it was just an “easy” destination for him. The Englishman believes, that Everton are capable of fighting for big things.

“It’s a great feeling to be back. I cannot wait to meet the lads, get on the training pitch and then get on the pitch to play,” he told Everton official website.

“I’m not just coming back because it’s the team I support, the team I grew up playing for – I’m coming back because I feel the club can move forward and be successful. I want to be part of it,” Rooney concluded.

Wayne Rooney had been an Everton academy graduate and then a senior team player until summer 2004, when he completed his move to Manchester United.
