Since France won against Uruguay, there is now a guarantee of 3 UEFA teams in the semifinals which means at least one medal match is going to be won by an UEFA team. In case Brazil loses we are looking at an all UEFA semifinals.
In the last ten world cups, the only medal match UEFA lost was the finals in 2002, 1994 and 86. The only non UEFA nations to appear at the final four are Brazil (4), Argentina (3), Uruguay and South Korea. UEFA members have won at least 6 of the last 10 gold medals and all 9 bronze medals.
