Fair play rules put Chelsea on red alert

Inter Milan bosses have admitted that Mauro Icardi could be off as they battle fair play rules-putting Chelsea on red alert. The club’s CEO Alessandro Antonello refused to rule out the sale of their star striker this summer. Chelsea are on the hunt for Icardi. The striker has been mooted as a possible option for the Blues, with reports in Italy claiming that Chelsea are considering activating his €110m (£96.5m) release clause. Antonello insisted that Inter would do “everything we can” to hold onto Icardi, who has also been linked with Juventus. “We will do everything we can to keep the captain here at Inter,” Antonello told RMC Sport. “We need to close the financial year first and then we will think about which players we can sign. “We don’t need to buy many players, we have a solid basis. We wanted to qualify for the Champions League. It was our main target. The Champions League is important for our finances and for our fans. We want to have a competitive team for next season but Inter also needs to respect the FFP rules.”
