Dynamo Kyiv vs Manchester City. UCL. Round of 16. Preview

24 February 2016, 20:45 GMT+1

Venue: Philips Stadion, Eindhoven, Netherlands

Referee: Daniele Orsato, Italy

The clash between Dynamo Kyiv and Manchester City has been considered to be the most predictable and obvious one: no one doubts about the English club’s succession to the next round. Still, the history has witnessed how Dynamo Kyiv knocked Manchester City out of UEFA Europe League in season 2010/11 (aggregate: 2-1). So, is this battle being the most predicted or most unexpected clash of round of 16?

Dynamo Kyiv (Ukraine)

Coach: Serhiy Rebrov

Current Form: none

Position in Ukranian Premier League: 2nd

The Ukrainian league has another route compared to the major European leagues. There were no official games since December 15, so, the talks about Dynamo Kyiv’s current form are not applicable.

However, the team is the first time in round of 16 since 2000, so, Rebrov claims that the team is not easily giving up the chances of succeeding to the next round.

“We have analyzed their weaknesses and explained them to the players. I hope they’ll use this knowledge”, said Rebrov during the pre-match interview.

Injured: N. Morozyuk, O. Rybka, A. Yarmolenko (?)

Suspended: V. Antunes

Probable Lineup

Manchester City (England)

Coach: Manuel Pellegrini

Current Form in all competitions: W_W_L_L_L

Position in EPL: 4th

Manchester City is approaching the UCL knockout stage with an obvious loss in form. During the last few days it lost 2 matches to the direct competitors in EPL and was thrown out of FA Cup by Chelsea. During the match against The Blues Man City’s main stars were rested, taking into account the long list of injured players.

Pellegrini obviously gives the priority to UCL, taking into account the fact, that The Citizens have never reached UCL 1/4 final in their history. Moreover, it is the first time they are in round of 16 as group winners.

Injured: W. Bony, S. Nasri, J. Navas, K. De Bruyne, F. Delph, B. Sagna (?), E. Mangala (?)

Suspensions: none
