Barcelona to sue Neymar for contract breach


Barcelona directors will be suing the club’s ex-player Neymar demanding compensation for a “breach of contract”.

According to the Spanish media, the Club demand 8.5 million euros following contractual breach claim with regards to Neymar’s record 222 million euros move to PSG.

The Brazilian and his lawyers have their own issues with the Catalan club, which they addressed in the statement released in Spanish media.

“We inform everyone that Neymar and his lawyers are aware of the news released today regarding the legal actions filed by FC Barcelona before the courts of Barcelona,” the statement read.

“Following official notification and after full review of the club’s claim, the player’s formal defence will be filed in due course.

“Regarding the bonuses owed for the execution of the contract of 2016, it is also necessary to inform that the player has already initiated the formal procedures of collection before the competent courts.”

The bonuses mentioned in the statement are 26 million euros, which as the player claims, were not paid.

Neymar the Barcelona are expected to get into court action. In case of Barcelona case win, the amount demanded (8.5 mln euros) will be paid either by Neymar, or by PSG.
