The Spanish national court has confirmed that Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has been called to trial regarding a transfer corruption case.
Apparently, Josep, who was Barcelona vice-president back in 2011, and former president Sandro Rossell have signed fraudulent contracts in 2011, which led to a 2013 Neymar signing.
The player has been a great success for the Blaugrana so far, winning the Spanish championship and Copa del Rey twice and beating Juventus in the 2014-15 Champions League final.
Josep Bartomeu is accused of violating the ‘free market for player signings, which prevented the player from entering the market in accordance with the rules of competition’.
The Barcelona president’s appeal against the allegations has been rejected by the Criminal Chamber, so a trial is imminent.
