Arsenal one of talented youngsters once rejected Spurs and Barcelona

17-year-old Emile Smith-Rowe was invited to train with Arsenal first-team by new coach Unai Emery. The Spanish coach is eager to give youth a chance and according to Ivan Gazidis his knowledge of the club’s youth players was one of the reasons to be appointed as manager. Along with the likes of Reiss Nelson, Xavier Amaechi and Eddie Nketiah, the teenager is one of the most exciting prospects in the club’s academy and there has been plenty of talk about him in the past 12 months, especially after his performances which inspired the Under-18s to the FA Youth Cup final last season. He once rejected offers from Tottenham Hotspur as well as La Liga giants Barcelona in order to stay with the Gunners "He's been great throughout the cup run," Wilshere told Arsenal's website after the FA Youth Cup final loss against Chelsea. "When he has stepped up to [train] with the first team, he hasn't looked out of place and that's a sign of someone who has a real opportunity of not just making a career, but playing at this club, which I know is difficult. "You can see over the years the good players that haven't quite made it, but he has got something a little bit special, and he has a real chance."
