Arsenal fans furious with projected transfer budget for next summer's window

Accountants advising The Arsenal Supporters Trust have forecast next summer's transfer budget. A combination of a significant rise in the club’s wage bill and a drop in revenues after not qualifying for the Champions League is forecast to result in a sizeable operating loss. The projected budget takes into account the club's significant wage bill, which was pushed to the limit in January when Mesut Ozil agreed new terms and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joined. The Telegraph report that the Arsenal Supporters Trust have forecast that the club will have a transfer budget of around £40million next summer. They believe the situation will eventually improve, once the Gunners' new shirt sponsorship and kit deals with Adidas begin next season. Arsenal fans have been reacting to the news on social media, and it seems many of them are understandably disappointed with the projected budget. On Twitter, one wrote: "£40million? Where is all the money gone, are we building another stadium again?" Another added: "Newly promoted sides will spend more." A third said: "£40million? Pathetic. Who can you get these days for that? Not even mid-table teams have that attitude." And a fourth concluded: "This would have been great news... in 1995".
