Arsenal are expected to challenge Manchester United for the signature of Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann, according to the Mail on Sunday.

The Gunners are understood to have failed with an initial bid to sign Griezmann last summer, with the France international having just extended his contract at the Vicente Calderon until 2021.

In an unprecedented move for the north London club, the Mail claim Arsenal’s first bid would have triggered Griezmann’s £85m release clause.

As things stand, the Gunners are ready to revive their interest in the summer, going to head-to-head with United, who feel they are in pole position to bring Griezmann to Old Trafford.
