Alexander-Arnold: We don’t want to get to penalties, but it’s football and not everything goes as planned

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold had his World Cup debut in Gareth Southgate’s starting lineup against Belgium national team. Speaking about the starting lineup, he said: “The manager picks the team, and everyone got their minutes, and that means manager has no doubt about players on the pitch.” England national team will face Colombia in the first round of playoffs. “(I don’t know) Nothing in depth, but I know they won their group”. Three Lions will play in playoffs for the first time since they lost to Germany in 2010. Before that, they have lost in penalty shoot-outs to Portugal twice (Euro 2004 and World Cup 2006). Arnold was asked about the possibility of penalty shoot-out and if players work on penalties during training sessions. “Yeah, we don’t want to get to penalties, but it’s football and not everything goes as planned. We are working on penalties during trainings.” Arnold added.
